Recently, President George W. Bush met with President-elect Obama at the White House for the preparations of turning over the keys to the new administration. However, the keys to the White House will not be the only thing being turned over once Obama gets into the White House. It seems that right after his inauguration, the then President Obama plans on overturning a lot of former President Bush’s executive decisions across the state, which includes the policy on abortions and stem cell research. In other words, tax payer dollars will go towards killing unborn children whether it’s for research or for nationwide birth control, whether people believe in it or not.
It breaks my heart to know that thousands of unborn babies will be wiped off the face of the Earth and that my tax dollars will be paying for this government issued genocide. Now some advocates would argue that the decision will help young girls who have gone through rape and incest not have to go through the pregnancy, but let’s be honest here. Only a small percentage of abortions are done under these circumstances while a majority of them are all because the girl can’t keep their legs closed. Imagine that some of these babies that will never see the light of day could have been a future doctor who could have cured cancer, or a future firemen who could have saved endless amounts of lives, or a counselor that give advice to kids not to have sex or talk them out of suicide due to peer pressure. They also could have been President of the United States.
It disturbs me that people feel we have the power and intelligence to play God, and yet look how screwed up this world is. Innocent, and I do stress the word innocent, lives will be slaughtered. To all those individuals who label themselves as followers of God or Christians, and yet voted for this guy who wanted to bring about change, shame on you! It is this kind of change where a school nurse can escort a young girl to get an abortion without parental consent and yet cannot prescribe an aspirin to them. Someone explain how this is a positive direction in this country?!
As for the stem cell research aspect of this issue, it’s not like we have not had any breakthroughs and such without destroying young fetuses. We have become a society of wanting it and wanting it now, quick, fast and in a hurry. I sympathize with those whose lives would improve because of this research, but have we become so self absorbed not to consider the repercussions or the fact that maybe, just maybe, the results are not going to get here any faster? Believe it or not, science is not an exact science. Back in 1983, I was diagnosed with lymphocytic leukemia. I have gone through a couple remissions before undergoing a bone marrow transplant. Now back then, the procedure was still in its experimental stage. Four other patients within the BMT unit were going through the same procedure and out of four patients, your reading the post from the only person that survived. My point comes in two fold. The first is there are other means and ways of finding a cure without sacrificing a life and second, even if the research does provide hope, it doesn’t provide a guarantee.
